The Espinoza altar honors and remembers loved ones who have passed. It includes framed photos from both families surrounded by their favorite drinks, snacks, and food they enjoyed while alive. It is designed to welcome and guide deceased family members into their home, letting them know how much they are cherished and what they continue to mean to the living Espinoza family.

Erika, an academic advisor at Michigan State University, shares her experience with Día de los Muertos as a Mexican-American. While her immediate family didn't create altars, Erika reflects on the tradition of visiting graveyards and bringing flowers, emphasizing the importance of creating altars to remember and honor loved ones who have passed.
