The Senior Director of Broadcast Technology will be an innovative, creative, collaborative, and technically driven professional who is responsible for the overall strategy and operational success of WKAR’s broadcast systems. This position will oversee the daily technical TV operations, while strategically keeping the organization at the forefront of technological trends across all platforms (TV, Radio, Digital). The role includes advising, implementing, managing, budgeting, supervising and being hands on. The position will also oversee the areas responsible for the maintenance and installation of broadcast and IT equipment, to include systems and equipment utilized at the transmitter, and master control, as well as in studios, control rooms, server rooms and edit suites. This position supervises the engineering department and works within the Senior Leadership team to provide collaborative technological support throughout the organization and with external partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position (such as IT, broadcast, video and audio experience).
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer sciences or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing complex projects, budgets, setting and accomplishing goals while managing dynamic priorities and personnel.
  • Must be familiar with FCC Rules and Regulations regarding broadcast.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory and management experience, fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Familiarity working in IP including local area networking, file handling, and protocol management as it relates to the broadcast environment. 

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of continuing education, such as SBE certifications 
  • Demonstrated skill and successful experience in organizational change and transition management, including creating efficiencies, and implementing new and emerging technologies, including new/revised work processes. 
  • Ability to explain highly complex technical projects in easy-to-understand terms to non-technical colleagues.

Work Hours
Standard 8-5 p.m. with nights and weekends based on business needs.
