Activists delivered a petition to Governor Rick Snyder Friday. Michigan Public Radio’s Cheyna Roth reports the petition demands the removal of Michigan State Police Colonel Kriste Etue.

Three weeks ago Colonel Etue posted a meme on Facebook. It called NFL players who kneel during the National Anthem “degenerates.” She apologized. Governor Rick Snyder recently said she would not receive pay for five days of work.

Denzel McCampbell is with the liberal group Progress Michigan. He delivered the petition to Snyder’s office.

“There are thousands of Michiganders, their signatures are right there here, and it’s thousands of folks across the country who say that it’s not enough.” Says McCampbell.

Tanya Baker took the petition from McCampbell.

“We will accept these on his behalf and we will make sure that they are reviewed.” Says Baker.

The Michigan State Police declined to comment.

Before becoming the newest Capitol reporter for Michigan Public Radio Network, Cheyna Roth was an attorney. She spent her days fighting it out in court as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Ionia County.
