Michigan apple industry buoyed by hard cider demand

Emanuele Berry

According to market researcher IBISWorld, hard cider sales have increased an average 27.5% annually during the last five years.

That’s encouraging for Michigan’s sizable community of apple growers, who have over 9-million trees in production.

Michael Beck is one of those growers.  He’s the owner of Uncle John’s Cider Mill in St. Johns. He began processing hard cider for sale a dozen years ago.
