An engaged western Michigan couple plan to tie the knot halfway through a marathon in downtown Detroit and then complete the event as husband and wife.

A wedding will be held Sunday morning for 31-year-old Whitney Black and 33-year-old Steven Phillips at the 13.1-mile (21-kilometer) marker. Black and Phillips are from the Grand Rapids area.

Officials with the Detroit Free Press/Chemical Bank Marathon say Black will wear a visor and a wedding veil, along with an athletic shirt reading: "Something Borrowed Something Blue at Mile 13.1 We'll Say I Do."

Phillips will wear a tuxedo shirt.

The ceremony is expected to last five to seven minutes. It will feature an officiant, ring bearer, witnesses and members of a Grand Rapids running club.
