A county official in western Michigan who was named clerk of the year has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for drunken driving while on a motorcycle.

The Daily News in Greenville reports Kristen Millard of Montcalm County apologized Friday at her sentencing hearing for "very poor decisions." She earlier pleaded guilty in the Sept. 8 crash that left her injured.

Prosecutors say Millard's blood-alcohol level was around twice the legal limit.

Millard was named clerk of the year in 2015 by the Michigan Association of County Clerks. Clerks oversee local elections and court records and handle many other duties.

The crash happened while Millard was free on bond an unrelated larceny case that was eventually dropped. Millard was accused of stealing eyeglasses from a bar. She denies it.
