Letters from the prairie: MI author explores the correspondence of Laura Ingalls Wilder

Laura Ingalls Wilder was a prolific letter-writer. Those letters have been compiled in a new book from Lapeer-based author William Anderson. Current State talks with Anderson about his passion for the writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Few American writers have enjoyed the loyalty of their readers as much as Laura Ingalls Wilder. Lapeer, Michigan author William Anderson has written extensively about the creator of the “Little House on the Prairie” stories. His most recent is titled “The Selected Letters of Laura Ingalls Wilder.”

Earlier this year, Anderson told Current State’s Scott Pohl that he considered about 500 of the author’s letters for the edition, choosing those that he felt were most representative of her and her writing.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
