The acclaimed quartet visited WKAR  to record some music and talk with WKAR's Peter Whorf about their upcoming East Lansing appearance.

"Four classical musicians performing with the energy of young rock stars."

That's what one Pittsburgh Post-Gazette music writer said of the New York-based string quartet Brooklyn Rider.  Violinists Johnny Gandelsman and Colin Jacobsen, violist Nicholas Cords and cellist Michael Nicholas make up the ensemble.  Johnny's dad Yuri Gandelsman is professor of viola at MSU.

Brooklyn Rider makes a stop in East Lansing Dec. 1 at Fairchild Theatre on the Michigan State campus, featuring a program of Philip Glass, Leos Janacek, Colin Jacobsen and Beethoven.

WKAR’s first live pledge drive since federal funding was eliminated is happening now. Our goal for the drive is $60,000 and reaching it will bring us one step closer to closing the federal funding gap.
