Michigan State

Remembering Jose Fernandez, Remembering Mylan Hicks, Remembering Arnold Palmer, Callers, Michigan State Football, and Michigan Football.

On today's "Current Sports with Al Martin" it's a quite sad start to the week, with three deaths in the sports community that both shook the roots of America and mid-Michigan. Al individually tributes all, beginning with former Spartan and CFL player Mylan Hicks, who was murdered at a Canadian night club, and going onto Jose Fernandez, the Marlins prodigy who passed away over the weekend in a boating accident. Finally, Al looks back fondly on the life and contributions of Arnold Palmer to the game of golf. Then, a matter of disgust for many MSU fans, it's time to talk about MSU's 30-6 loss at the hands of Wisconsin. Al, engineer Isaac Constans, and callers all try to account for what seemed to be an dispassionate waving of the flag from MSU. To end the show, it's all about Michigan, who resumed its dominance and is the lone bright spot in today's show.

WKAR has closed the gap left by the loss of federal funding. Because of you, trusted journalism, inspiring stories, and classical music remain freely available to everyone in mid-Michigan.
