On the same day that sexual assault charges came down against former Michigan State football players Joshua King, Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance, MSU athletic director Mark Hollis and coach Mark Dantonio held a press conference at Spartan Stadium to address the charges.

King, 19, is being charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person. Donnie Corley, 19, and Demetric Vance, 20, are charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. If convicted, King faces life in prison while Corley and Vance face up to 15 years.

Hollis, visibly upset with the news, was adamant in saying that the charges announced do not reflect his values or the culture of the university. Hollis went on to reassure that MSU is a safe place and that parents and students alike should take comfort in a students attendance.

As Dantonio spoke, he stressed time and time again that the education for the players on the subject was there and that King, Corley and Vance put themselves in a compromising position and did not live up to the standards that he put in place for the program when he took over in 2007.

Dantonio ended the press conference by saying that it has been a tough nine months for the program. He said MSU has been painted with a brush and that today marks an endpoint in some ways and a new beginning in others for Michigan State football.
