Former MSU FB Player Malik McDowell Scuffle With Police | Current Sports SOD

Malik McDowell
WKAR - MSU

Video was released this morning by TMZ Sports showing former Michigan State football defensive tackle Malik McDowell involved in a scary, physical altercation with police officers in Lathrup Village, Michigan. Current Sports host Al Martin and engineer Connor Matthes react on today's Segment of the Day.

The 6'6", 300-pound defensive tackle was pulled over in February for suspected drunk driving. The stop happened in front of the Marathon Gas Station at 12 Mile and Southfield. McDowell was tasered and even reached for one of the officer's hangun during the altercation. McDowell was charged with multiple crimes, including driving with a suspended license, OWI - second offense, and two charges of assault / resisting a police officer.

McDowell was waived by the NFL's Seattle Seahawks in July of last year after suffering a concussion and facial injuries after an ATV accident. He is a free agent and had a visit with the Dallas Cowboys back in March.

Al Martin is the host of Current Sports, the daily radio call-in program from WKAR NewsTalk. Al is also on the WKAR News team as a regular sports contributor and plays a key sports reporting and content role on all other WKAR media platforms.
