From La Niña to the dunes of Lake Michigan, MSU Geography professor and Chair Dr. Alan Arbogast ties it all together on Current State’s Geography Awareness Week series.

Established by presidential proclamation more than 25 years ago, National Geographic's Geography Awareness Week helps young Americans better understand geo-spatial issues and recognize their roles as global citizens. Michigan State University plays the lead role in GeoWeek in Mid-Michigan with a variety of public  opportunities designed to create an awareness about geography as both a discipline and as a part of everyday life.

Current State also presents several discussions on WKAR related to geographic awareness in a week-long series.

Today, MSU professor and Geography Chair Alan Arbogast weighs in. Dr. Arbogast is best known for his research on the history of coastal sand dunes along Lake Michigan.

Arbogast explains how he maintains interests in both the disciplines of Geology and Geography.
