Michigan State University confirmed assistant chief Valerie O’Brien is on administrative leave.
University spokesperson Emily Guerrant confirmed via email that O’Brien went on paid leave on Wednesday.
The university is not releasing the reason why or any other information.
According to the MSU police website, O’Brien oversees the Field Services Bureau. It supervised the department’s Uniform Division and the Investigative Division.
