Neighbors in Action: The Listening Ear

Flickr -Martin Cathrae

Each Wednesday for our  Neighbors in Action segment,  we feature people and organizations working to make our community a better place. Today we feature The Listening Ear, a Lansing-based all-volunteer organization that boasts the longest-running crisis hotline in the nation.

Steve Bon and Tanya Bernes are both volunteers at The Listening Ear. Steve is The Listening Ear’s longest-serving volunteer. He says he's been a part of the organization for over 35 years.

We could always use more nominations and we know there are people and organizations out there that are doing excellent work and we just don’t know about them. Please help us out and tweet us at @KARCurrentState or send us an email to Currentstate@wkar.org. Put “Neighbors in Action” in the subject line and tell us why you think they should be featured for the great work they do.
