Talking till it hurts: Tips on how to protect your voice

Courtesy - Michigan State University

Those of us who work in radio have a natural interest in their voices, but lots of people rely on their voices to make a living. A researcher at Michigan State University is looking into the factors that can damage our voices, and how to avoid them.Current State’s Scott Pohl speaks with Eric Hunter, an associate professor of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at MSU, about how important the voice is to millions of Americans.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
Together we’ve already reduced WKAR’s $1.6 million budget gap created by the loss of federal funding. With your sustaining support we can close the remaining $500,000 gap and keep trusted public media strong for mid-Michigan. The best way to support WKAR is to become a sustainer. Already a sustainer?
