Ex-MSU Football Player Auston Robertson in Police Custody

Former Michigan State University football player Auston Robertson is in police custody according to a police Facebook page.

A former MSU football player accused of committing sexual assault is in custody, according to the Meridian Township police department's Facebook page.

On Friday, Ingham County Prosecutor's Office filed third degree sexual misconduct charges against Auston Robertson, 19. 

The charges are in connection with an incident on April 9.

The department did not post how or where Robertson was arrested.

Also on Friday, MSU head football coach Mark Dantonio announced that Robertson, a defensive lineman, was no longer on the team.

If convicted, Robertson faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
