The city of East Lansing will hold another community engagement meeting to discuss budget priorities tonight.

In November, East Lansing voters rejected a proposal to impose a city income tax, and with that rejection, cuts of as much as 10-percent from the budget are being considered.

The city has looked at staffing reductions and closing the East Lansing Hannah Community Center on weekdays, among other options. The fire station on the MSU campus could also be on the chopping block.

City Manager George Lahanas will give an update, and residents will discuss possible cuts along with revenue options. This is the second of these meetings; it starts at 7 p.m. at the Hannah Community Center.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
