The Michigan Court of Appeals has denied Harold Leeman Jr.’s appeal of his conviction for taking money from a nonprofit organization.
Leeman served on the Lansing city council from 1996 to 2007 and was president of the council in 2006 and 2007.
In 2017, he was found guilty of embezzlement of between $200 and $1,000 from a concession stand he operated for the Gier Park Community Center Advisory Board. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to pay about $1,000 restitution.
Leeman appealed that conviction on grounds that included “pervasive misconduct” by the prosecutor.
On Thursday, the Appeals Court denied Leeman’s appeal.
