MSU To Name Provost Search Committee

Michigan State University will announce details this week about the upcoming search for a new provost.

In September, provost June Youatt resigned under the cloud of a federal investigation into MSU’s handling of the Larry Nassar sex abuse case. Last Friday, MSU Trustees approved the appointment of Teresa Sullivan as interim provost.

Now comes the search for a new chief academic officer.

President Samuel Stanley says this will be an open search.  “I think that’s something the campus really wanted," Stanley explains. "Many of the members of the search committee expressed an interest in having that done as well.”

That differs from the private presidential search earlier this year that resulted in Stanley’s nomination.

President Stanley says the search committee will include deans, tenured and tenure track faculty, and students.
