With the latest lifting of coronavirus health restrictions in Michigan, the home of the Lansing Lugnuts is preparing to open at full capacity.

After a cancelled 2020 season and a start to the current season with fan attendance limited to 20%, Jackson Field is transitioning to a full capacity stadium on June 1st.

Tyler Parsons, the general manager of the Lansing Lugnuts, said the team is excited to return to a sense of normalcy after a tumultuous year.

“We're incredibly blessed to be able to have fans here in the stadium here right now," he said. "And even more excited to have full capacity here and be able to continue to grow our business back to the normal level that was at back in 2019."

He said masks will only be required indoors for those who aren’t fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“We know COVID still exists, it's still around, it's not been eradicated," he added. "Even though you know, the mask policy has been lifted, we're going to 100% capacity, we're still gonna follow the CDC and state order on mask wearing indoors for non-vaccinated people.”

Parsons said the Lugnuts will be able to have up to 11,000 fans in attendance for the start of their six game series against the South Bend Cubs.
