Justice Michael Cavanagh reflects on 32 years on MI Supreme Court

http://courts.mi.gov/courts/

When 2014 comes to a close, so too will an era in Michigan’s judicial system. On New Year’s Day, Justice Michael Cavanagh will retire after 32 years on the Michigan Supreme Court. Only one other person in history has served longer on the state’s highest court, and not by much longer.Cavanagh spent four years as the court’s Chief Justice, he’s served in private practice, he was once the Lansing city attorney, and he even spent time working on freighters on the Great Lakes.

Current State’s Kevin Lavery recently sat down with Justice Cavanagh for an exit interview.

Kevin Lavery served as a general assignment reporter and occasional local host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered before retiring in 2023.
