Two New Faces Arrive In The Legislature Next Week

MLive

When the Legislature reconvenes next week, two new faces will be added to the state House of Representatives. Michigan Public Radio’s Cheyna Roth introduces the new representatives.

The Democrats in the House kept their numbers after the recent special election. Now, two women will be taking over for former Representatives Brian Banks and John Kivela.

Sara Cambensy will come in from the Marquette area. She says she wants to pull people together from both sides of the aisle.

“I really feel like most people are mad and angry that government’s not working for them, but they’re mad about the same things.” Says Cambensy.

Tenisha Yancey will take over a Detroit area district. She wants to focus on education and criminal justice reform.

Before becoming the newest Capitol reporter for Michigan Public Radio Network, Cheyna Roth was an attorney. She spent her days fighting it out in court as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Ionia County.
