Al talks with Maya Washington, daughter of famed MSU wide receiver Gene Washington, about the national television premiere of her film "Through the Banks of the Red Cedar", which profiles how the MSU program broke through racial barriers.

On today's Current Sports with Al Martin, no, we aren't talking about the horrid weekend that was Michigan sports. Spartans, Wolverines, and Lions fans everywhere aren't pleased. So, Al decides shake things up, bringing a feature interview with Maya Washington, daughter of famed MSU football player Gene Washington, to the show. Maya's film "Through the Banks of the Red Cedar" will be making a national TV debut on Tuesday night on The Big Ten Network. The film details how the Michigan State football team, under the leadership of head coach Duffy Daugherty, broke through racial barriers, focusing on talent and not race. Maya puts in perspective how fitting the film is for today's wild year.
