Public Radio Music Day - Richard Sherman

Jamie Paisley | WKAR
Flutist Richard Sherman At His Absolute Music Chamber Series Concert in Old Town Lansing's Urban Beat

On April 16th, Public Radio Music Stations are celebrating local musicians. For WKAR, we are also checking in with arts leaders around Mid-Michigan. Richard Sherman is one such person with many hats and connections to the MSU College of Music, the Lansing and Jackson Symphonies, the Chatauqua Institute, and his own Absolute Music Chamber Series of concerts. WKAR's Jody Knol spoke with him in this interview which aired on WKAR on April 16th, 2020 at 9am.

At the end of this wide ranging interview where Prof. Sherman talks about the many changes that have occurred to the many performing arts organizations he works with and the difficulties which arose from the quick social distancing practices adopted in the wake of COVID-19, we also asked him for an inspiring piece of music, and he chose any fugue of Johann Sebastian Bach's.

But we'd also like to know what music inspires you right now. Let us know by calling ?(567) 246-9038?, letting us know your name, what that piece is, and why others will find it inspiring. Over the next few weeks, as social distancing continues, we may broadcast it on WKAR-FM & WKAR.org
