Top athletes to compete in MI Senior Olympics

Last week on this show, Current State's Scott Pohl reported on the growing popularity of pickleball, a racket sport that looks like a cross between tennis and badminton. Well, if you liked that, you’ll probably love what’s coming up this weekend. The annual Michigan Senior Olympics winter games kick off Saturday in Oakland County, and pickleball is on the program. The lineup includes several “B” sports like badminton, billiards and bocce ball, along with classics like ice hockey.

Current State’s Kevin Lavery speaks with MSO executive director, Becky Ridky, who’s based in Rochester, Michigan. She says our homegrown games actually pre-date 15 real Olympiads.
