WKAR Morning Edition Host Emily Fox

WKAR's Morning Edition has a new addition: it's the voice of Emily Fox. Let's get to know her a bit with a quick Q&A:

You are originally a Michigander; what excites you the most about returning from Seattle to the mitten? “Up north," cabins, back yards, fall colors, fireflies, and thunderstorms.

What is your favorite quiet spot in the capital region? My childhood backyard and my mother’s gardens.

If you had a superpower, what would it be? To be invisible so I could travel and observe the world and its people without fear of harm.

What will you miss about Seattle? My friends and family there along with all the outdoor activities that come along with having the mountain/water combo right at your fingertips. (Kayaking, skiing, hiking, etc.)

How do you make sure you’re wide awake and ready to go on the air so early for Morning Edition? I’ve done Morning Edition at two other stations. At Michigan Radio, I walked to work and sometimes did pushups or hand stands before my shift. In Seattle, I biked two miles to work (uphill). I’ll need to figure out a new morning routine for East Lansing.

You’ve reported on several Michigan bands during your previous public radio positions; who are your current favorites? Vox Vidorra, The Crane Wives, Lindsay Lou, The Go Rounds, JR JR, Chris Bathgate, Joe Hertler & the Rainbow Seekers.

What sound do you love? The call of the loon.

Join Emily Fox every weekday on WKAR's Morning Edition from 5 a.m. – 9 a.m.
