A Michigan appeals court heard arguments Wednesday on whether a former police officer should go to trial for a murder charge in the killing of a Black motorist in 2022.

The city of Grand Rapids has been dismissed from a lawsuit over the fatal police shooting of a Black motorist.

Dorcas and Peter Lyoya remember their son, Patrick Lyoya. A Grand Rapids police officer killed him during a traffic stop in early April.
