Crunching funk and smooth jazz from Lansing bassist and band leader Orrick Ewing. Ewing has accumulated an impressive list of accolades to his resume since his musical career began as a child in a local gospel group. His incredible talent on the bass guitar, and gift for fusing a variety of music styles has taken him far. Ewing is in the Gospel Hall of Fame.

Orrick Ewing has playing bass guitar for over 40 years, and has been stunning audiences with his incredible talent for almost as long. Ewing first picked up a bass guitar as a child at the demand of a local gospel group and never looked back. He has since performed with notable groups like the Mighty Clouds of Joy, and many renowned performers including Aretha Franklin and Smokey Robinson.
Ewing's utilization of the bass guitar is what makes his act so unique. He brings the often overlooked instrument of the bass guitar to center stage to lead his band in their lively blend of jazz and funk music. Ewing excels in a wide variety of musical styles. He displays his technical guitar technique on his song "Funkville," and can immediately switch to show off his softer side on the smooth jazz song, "Reminiscing."

Ewing's incredible talent on the bass guitar, and gift for fusing a variety of musical styles has taken him far in the music industry. Examples of his mainstream success include induction into the Gospel Hall of Fame, as well as a Grammy nomination. He has performed with many renowned artists including Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, and Smokey Robinson. Today, Ewing continues to perform and share his incredible talents with audiences all over the country.
