The Federal Aviation Administration reported Detroit Metropolitan Airport closed Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. due to wintry weather. It is expected to reopen Wednesday at 1:00 a.m.

On Tuesday, Detroit and Lansing and much of southern Michigan received freezing rain, snow and icing.
Icy conditions caused many car accidents according to law enforcement.
The National Weather Service expected roads to remain hazardous overnight and into the morning.
