Headphones reveal hidden gems in Beatles songs

There are hundreds of books about the Beatles, but a Michigan author has published a new book that’s different from all the rest. In its pages, you’ll discover the tiniest of audio treats you’ve never heard before, no matter how many times you’ve heard these classic rock songs.Everybody knows about the little extra bits included on many Beatles records. They might be sound effects or spoken words.

Current State’s Scott Pohl speaks with Ted Montgomery, associate director of communications for the University of Michigan School of Education. He’s written a book about these little audio gems called “The Beatles Through Headphones”.

Scott Pohl is a general assignment news reporter and produces news features and interviews. He is also an alternate local host on NPR's "Morning Edition."
