Mardi Jo Link's new book 'The Drummond Girls' recounts her annual outing with a group of friends.

In 2013, Mardi Jo Link published “Bootstrapper,” recounting her post-divorce life running a small farm in northern Michigan. Now, she’s back with a new book about her lifelong friendship with seven other women. Current State’s Scott Pohl talks with Mardi Jo Link about “The Drummond Girls.”

Author Mardi Jo Link’s “Bootstrapper” was a Michigan Notable Book for 2014. It’s her true-life story of running a small farm in northern Michigan as a single mother. Link has followed that up with “The Drummond Girls,” and she’s coming to Lansing this week to talk about it.

In her younger days, Mardi Jo Link worked at a northern Michigan bar, and she bonded with several other women she got to know there. “The Drummond Girls” explains the power of that bond in her life, one that remains to this day.
