This fall, the Flint Symphony Orchestra hits the century mark. To mark the occasion, the 2016-17 season will be a celebration of 100 years from the orchestra.
Maestro Enrique Diemecke has been leading the ensemble since 1988, and he recently talked with Current State’s Jamie Paisley. Maestro Diemecke is making a bit of a change later this season from conductor to another important role for an orchestra, that of a composer.
To begin this landmark 100th season of the Flint Symphony Orchestra, they’ll perform a lesser-known work by Edvard Grieg, "The Last Spring." It’s the very first work that the Flint Symphony Orchestra performed almost exactly a century ago.
