Sat. Dec. 3 at 1pm on 90.5 FM WKAR Radio | Matinee broadcast returns to the air on this Saturday afternoon!

Opera lovers across our Capital Region and beyond have let us know how much they miss the Metropolitan Opera, which aired for many years on Saturday afternoons on 90.5.

As they say at the Met, "The Voice Must Be Heard!"

As your premier source for classical music, WKAR is now once again home to the world's greatest operatic performances.

Puccini's Manon Lescaut
The new season launches with Puccini's tale of a beautiful young woman destroyed by her conflicting needs for love and luxury. Anna Netrebko and Kristine Opolais share the title role, a heroine as alluring and irresistible as her adored city of Paris. Marcelo Álvarez is her obsessed lover in the opera that made Puccini famous, showcased in Richard Eyre's heated, 1940s film noir–inspired production, with Marco Armiliato on the podium.
