Michigan Events Honor September 11th Attack Victims

Lansing Remembers September 11th Memorial at Wentworth Park.

Monday is the day when many Americans pause to honor the victims who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. A series of deadly hijackings killed more than 3,000 people in New York City, The Pentagon and Pennsylvania. Here is a list of events in the mid-Michigan area: 

LANSING 

At 8:00 a.m., a procession of uniformed officers and emergency medical personnel will walk from the 100 block of East Michigan Avenue to the Lansing Remembers September 11th Memorial at Wentworth Park.

MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY 

The Spirit of America Blood Drive takes place 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Donors will be treated to a ride around the racetrack, lunch and can view the "Home of the Brave" exhibit. 

OKEMOS

You can view the 9/11 WTC Memorial Quilt display at Meridian Mall. The quilts are in the east wing through the food court entrance. The mall is open 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.

YPSLANTI

People will gather at Eastern Michigan State University's 9/11 Memorial at 8:30 a.m.  The memorial includes a beam from the World Trade Center.  It is located behind Pease Auditorium.
