MSU club lacrosse looks to move back to varsity level

EAST LANSING, Mich. - At one point, Michigan State varsity lacrosse was a reality.

The program played with distinction throughout the 1970s and ‘80s. In 1995,
lacrosse was cut as a varsity sports, a casualty of Title IX. Since then, Spartan
lacrosse has survived as a club sport, but is still committed to competing at the
highest level.

With the coming of the Big Ten lacrosse conference in 2013 and the growing
interest in the sport, many wonder when MSU will elevate its lacrosse team back to the varsity level.

WKAR's Jason Ruff introduces you to club lacrosse, and asks why they want to move to varsity level.

Together we’ve already reduced WKAR’s $1.6 million budget gap created by the loss of federal funding. With your sustaining support we can close the remaining $500,000 gap and keep trusted public media strong for mid-Michigan. The best way to support WKAR is to become a sustainer. Already a sustainer?
