LANSING – Heavyweight Tommy Washington Jr. needed to have boxing taken away for him in order to see how much it meant to him.
Washington, 30, is using his connection to the sport to help give back to the community. His boxing career was derailed at 23, when he pled guilty to gun and drug charges and served time in prison.
Being away from the sport he loved, and seeing how he was going down the wrong path has led Washington to change his life.
