"Current Sports with Al Martin" has been with her since the jump. Flint's favorite, Claressa Shields, won a TKO decision in Detroit in her latest boxing bout to claim two titles to go with her two Olympic gold medals. And now in her 4-0 undefeated pro career, Shields has two knockouts. That's a lot to take in, but Current Sports has it covered as Al and engineer Isaac Constans break down the record-setting fight night shown on Showtime that pushed Shields ever more into the limelight. Just four professional fights in, though, is Shields' superstardom deserved, and even more than that, is it sustainable? Al and Isaac KO that question while describing what makes the fearsome Flintstone the best in the world right now. As Shields took one step further than that, however, it might be time to retreat on some claims. A caller also peppers in his thoughts on the fighting scene.

Next, Geoff Kimmerly, a long-time Lansing sports reporter, now with the MHSAA, connects. Kimmerly prepares listeners for the high school sports season ahead--with a special focus on football, which had a big unveiling over the weekend. He updates information on the active efforts from the MHSAA to improve safety in the game.

Throughout the show today, too, you might notice a new tone to the voices as Current Sports broadcasts straight from the AM Studio, where Earle Robinson and Jim Adams used to deliver his legendary broadcast from. With that blast from the past, Facebook Live is not as viable as usual, and Al ends the show by laughing off the technological constraints.
