Michael Bennett; Police Brutality and Treatment of Minorities; Detroit Lions Preview; NFL Season; Richard Kincaide; Kellie Dean; Lansing Strong For Houston.

Sometimes, the sports world collides with the world of the everyday, and when it does, "Current Sports with Al Martin" covers the complete issue. Sadly, this time, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is allegedly the victim of police prejudice and mistreatment. Al reviews the topic in question and explains how it is representative of a bigger societal problem. Hear Bennett's account on what happened and why he thinks it is important for NFL players to protest the national anthem. Onto a lighter subject, Al brings on engineer Isaac Constans and the two comb through the Detroit Lions' schedule. With the NFL season beginning tonight, get excited and get the latest knowledge of the Lions on Current Sports. Then, the first of two guests caps the excitement there, as Richard Kincaide has to talk about the Detroit Tigers, who have finally been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The Detroit sports broadcaster relives the season and looks forward, while also tracking back to his Michigan State roots. Kincaide shares his thoughts on the football team and his memories of late basketball coach Jud Heathcote. Kellie Dean, CEO and president of Dean Transportation, drives the show to an end. Dean describes how the "Lansing Strong for Texas" campaign will aid refugees of Hurricane Harvey by bussing down supplies.
