RESERVE SEATS HEREIndie Lens Pop-Up, presented by the Independent Television Service (ITVS), Independent Lens, and WKAR are excited to offer an advance screening of Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities, a film by Stanley Nelson. The film reveals the rich history of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and the power of higher education to transform lives and advance civil rights and equality in the face of injustice.
Tell Them We Are Rising | Indie Lens Pop-Up takes place Thursday, February 8 at 7 p.m., WKAR Studio A.
The evening begins with a full screening of the film and continues with conversation as panelists comment on the film from personal experiences and expertise.

With Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities, the latest documentary from Stanley Nelson (Black Panthers, Freedom Riders), America’s foremost film chronicler of the African-American experience, the powerful story of the rise, influence, and evolution of HBCUs comes to life.
Tell Them We Are Rising airs Monday, February 19 at 9pm on WKAR HD 23.1.
