More About the Film: An American Reckoning?
In 2020 an estimated 16 million people took part in what became the largest mass protests in the history of the United States of America. There is a deep divide in our nation surrounding race, and certainly a deep wound. This documentary will explore why that divide endures and endeavors to discover the face of racism in present day America. In this trailer, the brutal murders we have viewed on screen are revisited by black women who have experienced their own share of racial trauma. They begin to heal through their conversations and connections with each other, as they contextualize and share their experiences of racism in America. We consider this event to be a kickoff for a series of conversations which will feed into our long form documentary in the near future.
