Jackson County women launch firearms training group

President Obama’s recent executive order tightening firearms background checks is spurring a jump in gun sales. Many potential customers are women. We talk with the co-founders of the new chapters of The Well Armed Woman in Jackson.

The world watched Tuesday while President Obama shed tears as he announced a new executive order aimed at curbing gun violence in America. The plan includes an overhaul of federal background checks and increased access to mental health care.

Pres. Obama’s mandate has spurred gun sales in recent days, and many of those buyers are women. Women are the fastest growing segment of gun owners in the U.S.

Current State talks with the co-founders of a local chapter of a national organization that encourages women to be responsibe gun owners. Marcy Jankovich and Vanessa Mulnix have started a chapter of The Well Armed Woman in Jackson, Michigan.
