Flags at half-staff at the State Capitol of Michigan.

Flags are being lowered to half-staff in Michigan to honor a fire chief, who was struck by a vehicle in Southwestern Michigan.

Comstock Township Chief, Edward Switalski, died on June 13 after he responded to another crash on Interstate 94 in Comstock Township.

Governor Rick Snyder ordered U.S. and Michigan flags to be lowered today on all state buildings and within the state Capitol complex, in honor of Chief Switalski.

A service for Switalksi is held today as well, at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo.
