The Capital Area Transportation Authority board has decided to promote deputy CEO Brad Funkhouser to CATA’s top job. Funkhouser will take over when current CEO Sandy Dragoo’s retirement takes effect in February.

Funkhouser was hired as deputy CEO by CATA in October of last year and had worked for CATA’s director of development in the early 2000’s. He was chosen over Dawn Distler of Knoxville, Tennessee Area Transit.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
