Gregory Conte, director of operations with Richard Spencer’s National Policy Institute, has been arraigned on a charge of resisting and obstructing police at Spencer’s March 5th appearance at Michigan State University.
The felony charge carries a maximum of up to two years in jail and or a $2,000 fine. The complaint against the 29-year-old Conte alleges that he assaulted MSU police officer Chad Davis, who was performing his duties during the protest outside the MSU Agriculture Pavilion, the site of Spencer’s speech.
The public appearance by the controversial white supremacist drew a large crowd of protesters, who clashed with Spencer supporters. In all, there were about two dozen arrests.
Conte is identified as a resident of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
A pre-examination conference for Conte has been scheduled for March 30th before 54-B District Court Judge Richard Ball, and there will be a preliminary examination on April 5th.
