Acting MSU President Satish Udpa

Michigan State University Acting President Satish Udpa has returned to work. He was away last week following a fall at MSU’s commencement ceremony for advanced degrees earlier this month.

In what’s been described as a “health incident,” Udpa fell onstage during the ceremony on May 3rd and spent last week resting at home.

University spokesperson Emily Guerrant confirms that Udpa was back on the job on Monday. Guerrant says that while the Acting President is expected to work all week, he isn’t, quoting here, “pushing too hard.”

The campus newspaper, The State News, reports that Udpa’s light schedule includes attending some events by phone while aides handle other events.

Udpa was appointed Acting President upon the resignation of Interim President John Engler in January.

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
