Mail is still being delivered while many businesses are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Michigan deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Postal Service is still delivering mail.

Alicia Thurman is a rural mail carrier in Dimondale. She says precautions are being taken while she’s making her rounds. “Wear gloves, change them out as much as possible, hand sanitizer," Thurman explains. "You know, when we go up to the door, most people like to ring the bell, and right now we’re just setting them (packages) on the porch.”

Thurman says that she’s trying to stay six feet away from people when taking mail into a business.

Back at the post office, surfaces are being wiped down with bleach, and gloves are being worn at all times.
