The Michigan Virtual Court Directory allows viewers to watch livestreamed legal proceedings or access a video posted after the session has ended.

A new online resource is making Michigan’s judicial system more transparent.

The new Michigan Virtual Court Directory allows viewers to select court hearings by county and watch either a live stream or a video posted after the session has ended.  Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Bridget McCormack says the site is meant to streamline access to the state’s legal system into a single portal.

“We have to constantly work on making sure our web resources are transparent, and hopefully this is one of these tools that we can be proud of because the public will find it easy, I think, to navigate,” says McCormack.

McCormack says the site was already in the works before the coronavirus pandemic forced public institutions to conduct business online.

She adds the system is already showing, in her words, “efficiencies across the board.”
