Employees are back to work at the headquarters of Peckham Incorporated in Lansing after a COVID-related shutdown last week.

Peckham sent workers home on Tuesday, October 9th out of an abundance of caution. The Ingham County Health Department says 27 COVID-19 cases had been connected to a Peckham facility near the Capital Region International Airport. The closure affected about 600 people.

Director of marketing Lorely Polanco says the building was deep cleaned and professionally sanitized while it was unoccupied. Polanco says “we changed all of our filters in our HVAC system, we pulled fresh air through the building to exchange the indoor air, and we installed additional hand sanitizers and signage detailing the symptoms and safety measures in several different languages.”

Employees returned on Monday. “A lot of the people that work here are completely dependent on their work that they do for us in order to make a living," Polanco states, "so, I think everybody’s pretty happy that we are back to work.”

Peckham operates 13 facilities in three states, all but two in Michigan. Many of their employees have disabilities or face other barriers to work.
