First term Lansing City Council member Jody Washington has upbraided Mayor Virg Bernero, alleging he referred to her as "Eric Hewitt in drag."
At Monday night's city council meeting, Washington accused the Mayor of making the remarks "to people in our community." She called the comment--which the Mayor denies making--as "unacceptable" and "misogyny."
Bernero told Washington--quote--I've never referred to you that way--unquote.
Hewitt preceded Washington as the first ward council representative. He regularly disagreed with the mayor.
