Traffic fatalities nationally have trended down. In Michigan, not so much. The number of fatalities in Michigan was virtually unchanged between 2023 and 2024, and 2025 figures aren’t out yet.

Michigan has a shortage of special education teachers and the state ranks below the national average in its high school graduation rate for students with disabilities. Biggest factors are low pay and lack of support with caseloads.
